This may be the last year Foster City sets of fireworks on the Peninsula. The annual tradition doesn’t come free for the city and due to budget cuts, the dirty little phrase we’re getting used to hearing every day, this too may end. It’s really unfortunate since the cost of the fireworks are being underwritten by a local business. Bravo to them! But there are some major corporations sitting in Foster City that could easily pick up the expenses of the Foster City Police Department and Public Works, estimated at $80,000 in future years. [...] It’s Earth Day. Get out there and plant a tree or something green to help keep our air clean and our environment beautiful. This was once only a day and then became a month, the month of April. I think it should be something we do daily and no longer have to make it a special day! [...] This area has two large condo complexes, Marina Point, San Harbor and Sand Harbor South with really spacious units that make great entry level home purchases. These developments have held value in comparison to other communities in nearby cities. They also haven’t been hit with the high number of foreclosures the way other communities have. [...] Can you spare an hour a week to volunteer with children? Brewer Island School, a K-5 elementary school in Foster City is in dire need of 20 reading volunteers. If you like the house and how it looks, the landscaping is like the frosting on a cake, it’s the finishing. I remember when the first homes were being built along the bay, and walking blowing in to the models and thinking who’s going to live here? Back then I was sure Foster City would sink back into the bay. Boy, was [...] it seems that San Mateo County is well represented in the Forbes list of America’s Top 25 Towns to Live In. Foster City is #10, Belmont is #11, and Hillsborough is #12. All three are great communities to raise a family, enjoy the good life, and nurture brains and business. Aren’t we lucky! [...] |
