This may be the last year Foster City sets of fireworks on the Peninsula. The annual tradition doesn’t come free for the city and due to budget cuts, the dirty little phrase we’re getting used to hearing every day, this too may end. It’s really unfortunate since the cost of the fireworks are being underwritten by a local business. Bravo to them! But there are some major corporations sitting in Foster City that could easily pick up the expenses of the Foster City Police Department and Public Works, estimated at $80,000 in future years. [...] Single family homes in San Mateo have held their own in pricing this past week. The Median price for everything sold was $699,000. There were 211 houses listed in the MLS showing an average of 124 days for these homes on the market. The most expensive house listed was for $2,795,000 and the least expensive was $349,900. [...] It’s Earth Day. Get out there and plant a tree or something green to help keep our air clean and our environment beautiful. This was once only a day and then became a month, the month of April. I think it should be something we do daily and no longer have to make it a special day! I think I’ve found almost everyone of them in San Mateo County and if you’re willing to head south I have a few for you in Santa Clara County, too. [...] This area has two large condo complexes, Marina Point, San Harbor and Sand Harbor South with really spacious units that make great entry level home purchases. These developments have held value in comparison to other communities in nearby cities. They also haven’t been hit with the high number of foreclosures the way other communities have.
